Lil’ Monkey Elite Collection Infant/Toddler Costume
One completely adorable costume for a baby is a pea pod costume. Wrap the baby in dark green fabric (like a sack). Sew a lighter green stripe lengthwise down the front middle of the costume, and wrap the same green fabric around several Styrofoam balls to represent peas, then sew them in a line down the lighter strip of green fabric. To finish it off, sew the baby a green cap for his or her head to make the look complete. People will be ooing and ahhing all day long, and you are guaranteed to get many comments about your baby being “as cute as a pea in a pod”!
A kitten costume is also very easy to make, and is one of the best kids Halloween costumes. A black onesie with a white “bib” sewn into place makes a convincing black and white cat costume. Wrap a length of black fabric to make a tube and stuff it with cotton, then sew it on the back of the costume for a tail. A headband with fabric cat ears sewn on (or if you look around hard enough, you can find a premade cat ear headband to use) completes the look. If you want to go all out, with some face paint, paint on black whiskers and a pink nose. If your child is trick-or-treating, he or she can use a small, cleansed cat food bag to hold the treats.
An elephant costume can be made in the same manner as the kitten costume, except you’ll want to start with a grey onesie instead of black. Take some light grey fabric, and cut into several strips to sew on the front of the foot in a way that they look like elephant toes. The same color fabric can be cut into tusk shapes and sewn into place around the neck area. Try to also pick up some darker gray fabric that matches the onesie (or you can make the onesie from scratch out of the darker grey material). With the dark grey, make a long tube, thicker at one end, to be the trunk, Stuff it with cotton and sew into place coming off of the chin area. The tusks mentioned before can be placed on top of the trunk in a place that looks realistic. If your onesie has a hood, some dark grey elephant ears can be sew into place to finish the look. This is always a sure hit as it’s one of the most popular kids Halloween costumes!
