Fun, Exciting Indiana Jones Costumes for Halloween!
So you’re a big Indiana Jones fan? Maybe you don’t look like Harrison Ford, but you can still pull off the look for Halloween! Indiana Jones costumes are sure to get attention from everyone around, especially after the release of the newest movie! Young and old alike, Indiana Jones always catches attention and provokes thoughts of fun, adventure, and danger.
First, try to practice the mannerisms of Indiana Jones, such as the famous smile he always does. Practice some of the more famous lines from the movie to you can recite them and sound in character. This is obviously not entirely necessary, but it’s a lot of fun to be able to act the part. Some people might go so far as to be “in character” all evening and talk to everyone as if they were Indiana Jones. There’s nothing wrong with that, but there’s no need to go that far, unless it is a costume party and that is expected. Either way, it’s still fun to know a few lines and be able to say them just as if you stepped straight out of the television set.
For the look, you don’t have to go out and spend a bunch of money at a costume site or costume store. Indiana Jones costumes are not hard to pull off yourself with basic clothes, many of which you may already own. The classic brown (or kaki) pants with a tucked in light blue or white dress shirt and a brown leather jacket start off the look. A brown fedora hat, a brown satchel and a curled up whip attached to your belt leaves you ready to go. You may not be able to outrun giant boulders and work your way though exploding caves to find treasure and save the day, but at least you’ll look the part.
Women, not to worry, you’re not left out of the Indiana Jones craze! You can dress up as the infamous Col. Dr. Irina Spalko! This combination also works great as a couple’s outfit, since it’s a fun and exciting combination.
A gray top and pants combination with a high neck and many large buttons is a good start. Long, black leather boots are pretty much required to pull this look off. Black leather gloves and a thick black belt across the waist complete the black-on-gray look required. If you have lighter hair, consider wearing a short, dark colored wig to really pull this look off. A toy (plastic) sword on the belt and a gun holster make you really look the part! Just like with Indiana Jones, you can study this character’s mannerisms and lines in the movies to really look and act the part. Only half of a character is what you wear! The other half is how you wear it! You could go in jeans and a t-shirt, and if you act the part properly, people should still be able to guess who you are. Both of these characters make for great Indiana Jones costumes!
