Halloween Prince Costume for Infant

As Halloween approaches, you have everything ready for the big day – but what kind of costume to get for your newborn baby? One of the best choices is a prince costume for infant children! A prince costume is easy to make, adorable, memorable, and guaranteed to get oohs and aahs from everyone you see! Besides, isn’t your baby important enough he or she should be considered royalty anyway? A prince costume is so cute and makes for great pictures you can both cherish for the rest of your lives.

To start off with, the easiest way to go is to simply attempt to find one already made that you can just buy. Call around several different party supply stores and costume shops to see if they have one available. Thrift stores and consignment shops are a great place to find hand-me-down costumes at a great price that are often overlooked. Don’t forget after your child is finished with his or her costume, or has outgrown it, to donate it instead of throwing it away, so another child can enjoy the costume as well!

If your baby is dressing up with another baby (a sibling or friend), one baby can dress up as a prince, and the other as a toad, for somewhat matching costumes. Or, you can dress your child up as a toad with a crown, symbolizing the toad waiting to be turned into a prince!

For the toad costume, a bright green onesie is a great start. If it has a hood, all the better. With (close) matching color green fabric, sew giant green frog feet to be worn as shoes. A strip of lighter green fabric lengthwise down the torso adds to the toad effect. Sew on some round, green blobs to the sides of the hood with round white circles and black slits inside the circles to simulate bugged out frog eyes for a complete effect. You can always just throw a crown on this costume, and use it as a fantastic prince costume for infant children – it will look like the frog before he turns into a prince! All it takes is a kiss from a princess to complete the fairy tale and for everyone to live happily ever after!

For a complete prince costume, start off with purple pants (purple is a universal sign of royalty) and a dark colored shirt. A cape is common with a prince costume. Using dark purple material with rope fringe trim makes a very royal looking cape. A jeweled crown can be found at most major retail stores, as can a royal looking sword that can be worn around the belt for a prince that’s ready to go to battle!

You can also use a military dress style jacket with the prince outfit. Rope fringe added to the shoulders looks very prince like. Decorating the front of the jacket with medals and royal medallions adds to the effect.

And there you go, a simple way to create the ultimate prince costume for infant children!
