Great Adult Halloween Costume Ideas!
There’s no reason kids should be left to all the fun when October 31st rolls around. Adults and parents of all ages can have a lot of fun at Halloween parties, and why shouldn’t they get to dress up too? Even just to hand out candy or go along with your kids as they trick-or-treat, dressing up is a fun and exciting event! Adult Halloween costumes just make the event more special.
When you’re a kid, finding a costume is never much of a challenge. No matter if you buy one in the store, or make one yourself, it’s usually easier to come up with ideas, and it’s easier to pull off those ideas as a child than it is as an adult. A simple ghost costume may be fine as a child, but you may start to feel silly as an adult.
Dressing up with a group of people is even more fun than dressing up by yourself. You could all go as a group. Imagine the entire main cast of Star Wars walking into a room. Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princess Leah, and C3PO all together is much more shocking than any one of the group walking in alone.
Try to practice pulling off the personalities of your characters too, not just the look. If you can learn to talk like Darth Vader or Daffy Duck, that’s even better than just looking the part. If you can walk like Captain Jack Sparrow, you’re halfway there!
A simple devil costume is easy to pull off. The costume itself is cheap to buy or easy to make - it’s essentially a red robe with a tail, pitchfork and red horns. To complete the look, have a friend dress up as an angel, in full white complete with halo and all. The contrast will make for a great pair of costumes. For fun, the two of you can pretend to argue about issues. Try to work in your costumes into people’s conversations, one of you standing on each side of a person and trying to sway them in different moral directions - the devil to do something evil or funny, and the angel to do something helpful or good. Just don’t overdo it or you’ll risk driving everyone crazy and might not get invited back next year to show off your new batch of amazing adult Halloween costumes!
If you’re going to dress up as Abe Lincoln, for example, memorize the Gettysburg Address so you can recite it on cue. It won’t take very long, and you can just memorize key parts of it if you want to cut your studying time down. You can then wow everyone by answering truthful questions about yourself (in character), and give famous speeches your character may have given in the past. That’s a true way to impress everyone with your planning and execution skills!
So with a little forethought, some hunting around (or sewing) for the perfect costume, and some practice fitting into character, it’s not that hard to pull off the perfect adult Halloween costumes!
